"The Rangers on Tuesday insured they won't have to deal with an arbitration hearing for shortstop Elvis Andrus this winter, or any other before he reached free agency eligibility.

According to a major league source, the club and Andrus agreed to a three-year deal, pending a physical, worth close to $15 million. The deal comes less than 48 hours before Rangers officials, Andrus and his representatives were scheduled to go before an arbitration panel in St. Petersburg, Fla. The Rangers had offered Andrus $2.65 million, while he sought $3.6 million in arbitration.

Rangers general manager Jon Daniels did not comment Tuesday. "
